They have probably been here all winter-sorry, not a sign of spring.

Winter is getting long for the wildlife. The pheasants are coming up to our bird feeders more often as the winter drags on.

We just checked 5 Bald Eagle nests in the western 1/3 of Fillmore County for activity. One had an adult sitting low in the nest(eggs???). One had an adult close by the nest (photo above). The other three had no adults near or on the nests yet. We will check the nest from time to time.

The deer have been quite active lately. We still have 6-12 inches of snow on the ground and feeding has become more difficult as the winter drags on.

For years we have kept track of events such as the arrival of the first Hummingbird or the blooming of the first Marsh Marigold. We have now begun to photograph these events and felt others may be interested in what we run into in our "nature wanderings".
