Immature Bald Eagle south of Spring Valley, Mn.

Rough-legged Hawk making a kill.  A far northern hawk of Canada that sometimes venture south during the winter.  Some winters we seen none, but have seen several already this year.  Somewhat larger than a Red Tail, this hawk comes in two color phases-light, such as this one, and also a darker phased one.

Opossum at our feeder.  Been fairly warm for December and we often see them during warm winters.

Sunset from our place Saturday December 9, 2017.  My pathetic attempts to show the glory of tonights sunset fell short.  It was more spectacular than I could capture.

Snowy Owl.  (Photo by Julie Harring).  This Snowy Owl was photographed in Rochester, Mn. today.  There have been several sightings already this fall in S.E. Minnesota.  This one appears to be either a female or an immature male, as it has a fair amount of grey/brown barring.   We had seen very few Snowy Owls before 2014, but have seen 9 Snowy Owls since then.  Some are predicting that this could be a big year for them to come south off the Tundra.
