Male Cardinal after yesterdays 7 inch snow.

Song Sparrow.  A Song Sparrow showed up today.  They are somewhat uncommon in the winter but we have had them here before this time of year.

Bald Eagle nest on the Upper Iowa River.  It looks like a tail is sticking out just to right of the tree above the nest.  I doubt that they have laid eggs yet but they will in the next few weeks.

Cedar Waxwings.  They came in to feed on the apples and Highbush Cranberries.  It was a flock of 73, the largest we have ever seen at our place.  I was hopeful of a great photo but the lighting was not good.

Tree Sparrow.  The Tree sparrows and Juncos are the only visitors we have had from the north country.  No Purple Finches or Red-breasted Nuthatches this year.

Horned Lark.  One of the most overlooked birds.  Every person in Minnesota has seen these birds but few take the time to notice them.  These are the small birds that get up off the edge of roadways as we speed along our way.  They are here most of the year including winter  & we have seen many in our travels this week.
