 Three species of Damselflies.  Damselflies are smaller, more delicate, and hold their wings closer to the body than their dragonfly relatives.  If bird ID is challenging, Damselfly ID is close to impossible.

 HAYDEN PRAIRIE WEST OF LIME SPINGS IOWA THIS MORNING.



 Small White Lady' Slipper.  An uncommon plant of very damp Prairies.  It is about 1/2 the size of its yellow cousin. 


 Yellow Lady's Slipper.  Yes the Yellow Lady' Slipper is also a prairie flower of rich, moist, Mesic Prairies.  They bloom later on the prairie than in the woodlands by about 2 weeks.  they are just starting on Hayden Prairie and should reach their peak in about 1 1/2 weeks.  One can see as many as 100+ on a single visit.
