Horned Lark.  We saw several flocks of Horned Larks get up from the side of the road on the way to town yesterday.  They seem to prefer open windswept areas-what they survive on is beyond me.

Bald Eagle pair resting on their nest today in the valley of the Middle Branch of the Root River.  We have been watching this nest, and we assume this pair, for several years now.  They usually seem to lay eggs in March and have raised young the last 3 years.

Light color phased Rough-legged Hawk.  A hawk of far northern Canada the sometimes comes south for the winter.

Much of the Mississippi is iced in.

Winter Bald Eagle numbers appear to be strong.

We have seen many wild Turkeys in the last few weeks.

Canada Geese still can be found in areas with open water.
