Deer under one of our apple trees. As winter sets in harder the deer often come up to our yard to eat apples and seed out of the bird feeders.

Trumpeter Swans Whitewater valley, north of Elba ,MN. We saw about 40 Trumpeters yesterday-that is more than existed in the world in 1930. They have, unlike most birds, made a great comeback.

The Trumpeters have moved to one of the open spring fed ponds in the Whitewater valley. They will tough it out as long as there is open water.

For years we have kept track of events such as the arrival of the first Hummingbird or the blooming of the first Marsh Marigold. We have now begun to photograph these events and felt others may be interested in what we run into in our "nature wanderings".
