Probably a dark phase Redtailed Hawk and not an eagle.

Found what appeared to be an immature Bald Eagle displaying unusual behavior. We at first thought it was in trouble but it eventually walked out of the water and flew away. It was also the smallest eagle we have ever seen.

About 2-3 thousand Tundra Swans south of Brownsville, Mn on the Mississippi Monday. Numbers should increase in the next two weeks.

For years we have kept track of events such as the arrival of the first Hummingbird or the blooming of the first Marsh Marigold. We have now begun to photograph these events and felt others may be interested in what we run into in our "nature wanderings".
