The real "Green Hornet"

This "green hornet" is really a small(1/2 inch) sweat bee species, probably Agapostemon.

BUTTERFLY HATCHES

We had a large hatch of Red Admiral butterflies yesterday.  The larva feed on nettles, so without that itchy weed we would not have these lovely creatures.

The Goat's Beard only blooms for a few hours each morning in our driveway ditch.

PRAIRE FLOWERS ARE PUTTING ON A SHOW.

White Lady's Slipper, a rare flower of high quality prairies.

Yellow Lady's Slipper.  They bloom both in the woodlands and on some prairies.  They bloom first in woods, later on the prairies.
